7/31/2019 0 Comments Wild Rivers Plein Air EventJust home from an amazing, well organized event in Red River NM. The Rio Grand Gorge is an amazing place to paint. We got papers stamped and were off! I decided to drive all the way to the end and look back up into the canyon for my first painting. I stopped and took additional pictures for future studio paintings.
The second day a group painted at the St. Anthony's Historic Church in Questa. The third day I painted in the town of Red River. The ski lift and the Alpine Lodge were my focal points. Then in the afternoon I moved across the street and looked back and painted the Sitzmark Lodge. To great architectural subjects with great shadows. Paintings were turned in and the Opening Reception was Saturday July 20th from 3 - 5 PM. 80 artists entered. 384 people attended. 21 paintings sold and I sold 2! Lots of new friends, Memories and stories to share! Great job to all who organized the event! 7/3/2019 0 Comments My NewsletterThis quarter's newsletter is posted as a pdf file for you to download. Happy Shopping! 6/28/2019 0 Comments Emulating my instructor:![]() Back in February I went to a workshop with Antonio Masi. Many things he demo'd, spoke about and did were so amazing; but the one that really got me was that he painted vertically! There was a drop cloth (plastic) and he used push pins and hung the watercolor paper straight up and down on the wall. I spent this afternoon setting up something very similar for me to use. It takes a long time for pieces of what you saw, learned and did to be assimilated into you work. I set things up and started drawing my next 20 x 16 painting. The drawing is strong. Perhaps because you can really step back to view it - I mean way back. I also used for the first time the sleeve to hang a tablet around my neck - freeing up my hands. Tired, end of the afternoon. Paint will start tomorrow. |
